Adventure sports activities to start in Cherrapunjee, Laitlum

SHILLONG: For the first time in Meghalaya, tandem paragliding, hand gliding and other tandem flights for joyrides are scheduled to start in Cherrapunjee and Laitlum from the first week of December.

"Tandem paragliding and tandem hand gliding will start from the first week of December. Local and tourists from mainland India are calling and inquiring when we will start tandem," said Desmond Nongkhlaw, president of the Meghalaya Aero and Adventure Sports Association.

Nongkhlaw also informed that such adventure activities would cost around Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,500 per person. He said that the inception of such adventure activities in the State would open doors for adventure tourists in the State. Nongkhlaw added that there was already a high demand for adventure sports in the State and people from all over the country were showing interest in adventure sports in Meghalaya.
