Ailing Police personnel of Meghalaya recuperating in Delhi

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Police, on Sunday, said that an MLP personnel of the 3rd Battalion posted at Delhi — Roningson kharhagmaw — is recuperating in a hospital in Delhi. After the personnel reported sick on May 22; he was attended by the unit doctor of the battalion on the same day, and subsequently kept under isolation in Wazirabad.

Assistant Inspector General of Police Gabriel Iangrai stated, "However, since his health was not improving, he was referred to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital, New Delhi on May 23. The medical officials, after checking his health condition, placed him under mandatory quarantine in the hospital."

Iangrai added that as the personnel is under quarantine in the hospital, attendants could not be provided to him as the current protocols prohibits having attendants in the quarantine units.

He further said that the unit doctor of the battalion is constantly in contact with the medical officials of the hospital, who are treating Iangrai who is convalescing.

"Further tests will be conducted to ascertain whether the official will be fit to be discharged in the coming days," a statement from the Meghalaya Police stated.

The statement from the Meghalaya Police also informed that the Commandant and Commanders of the battalion are in contact with the personnel since the day he was admitted at the hospital and essential assistances are being rendered to him as per the permitted protocol.

"As a preventive measure, battalion officials who came into direct contact with the patient are also placed under isolation and necessary medical assistance have been assisted to these officials," Iangrai pointed out.
