SHILLONG, Sept 11: The Civil Society Women’s Organisation (CSWO) has alleged that a traditiol head is forcing villagers to construct toilets under the Total Sanitation Campaign (TSC) at their own costs.

According to CSWO president, Agnes Kharshiing villagers of Klew village, Ri Bhoi district, have been asked by the Sordar of Raid Kyrdem, Pholning Makdoh, to immediately construct the toilets under the TSC scheme at their own cost and money will be paid later when the new scheme is released.

She alleged that out of fear some of the villagers have taken private loans from ginger dealers and constructed the toilets even as some have made temporary toilets.

Kharshiing also alleged that the residents of part of Upper Klew do not even get the benefit of the Mahatma Gandhi tiol Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).

According to the CSWO president the villagers of Uper Klew are also not having electricity and are using solar lamps.
