Around Rs 6 lakh cash seized by flying squad in Garo Hills

SHILLONG: A Flying Squad formed under the directive of the Election Commission of India seized around Rs 6 lakh from two persons under Hallydayganj police station in Selsella constituency, West Garo Hills district on Sunday morning.

According to State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Fredrick Roy Kharkongor, the ‘Flying Squad Team’ at around 10: 45 am on Sunday while checking first seized Rs.4,80,000 from a person identified as Saha at about 10.45 am and later seized Rs.1,60,000 from another person identified as F Seikh at about 11 am.

Selsella constituency will have a bye-poll along with the Parliamentary election on April 11.

The seized money has been kept in the ‘Strong Room’ of Tura Treasury.

With the latest seizure, the total amount of cash seized so far by the Election Commission all over the State has gone up to Rs 57 lakh, Kharkongor informed.
