SHILLONG: Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong has said that the district administration will probe as to how a resident from Assam managed to enter Meghalaya despite the strict restrictions on inter-State movement.

It may be mentioned that the person from Barpeta district of Assam entered the State on June 26 even as he did not undergo the mandatory 14-day quarantine. The person who was apprehended by the public in Bhoirymbong on July 10 was asked to go for quarantine at Byrnihat even as he was tested for COVID-19. On Tuesday, his samples tested positive for the virus.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that the person had stated that he was working for a particular company known as 'Safe Shop', and gave 'Umeit' as his local address. The person left for his home State before the lockdown and returned on June 26. The person used to move around the area in his car, added Dr War.
