SHILLONG: The AS (Assam) vehicles are back in Shillong ferrying the pre and post New Year revelers. The traveller buses are more visible in the past three days and have visitors with COVID negative certificates entering to get a fresh and frosty joy in the pine city.

If not business as usual, the guest house in the city is having a sigh of relieve."At least we are getting the first group of customers since the lockdown," stated an owner of a home stay in Shillong.

The tourism sector has been hard hit in the State due to the pandemic and all the stakeholders involved in the tourism sector said that the easing out of the standard operation protocol and the coming of tourist has given them glimmer of hope.

The tourists seen in Shillong are seen heading to Sohra, Mawlynong, Dawki and others places.

Notwithstanding the new restrictions related to the entry-exit point and COVID and other limitations imposed by the Government, around 800 tourists have entered the State in the past five days, as officially listed. The number is expected to rise.
