Bangladeshi cattle smuggler arrested in Meghalaya

SHILLONG: Inspector Sudan Singh, Company Commander of E-Coy, 28 Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) based in the South West Garo Hills (SWGH) district lodged a complaint that on recently that four to six miscreants were detected moving six-eight head of cattle towards the Indo-Bangladesh International Border at Thorangpara, with the intention to smuggle the cattle to Bangladesh.

When BSF personnel challenged them to stop, one of the miscreants attacked one security personnel with a 'dao', but the jawan managed to save himself. Later, one of the miscreants, identified as Ebrahim Kazi (32) of Haridaspur village under Kashiani Police Station under Gopalganj District of Bangladesh, was apprehended and an Indian Aadhaar Card, Indian currency worth Rs 78, a mobile phone with charger etc., were recovered from his possession.

The apprehended Bangladeshi national was later handed over to police at the Mahendraganj Police Station in the South West Garo Hills district.

It is reported that the other miscreants fled away towards the Indian side and managed to escape with the cattle.
