
SHILLONG: Meghalaya Police, in coordination with Bihar Police, apprehended an individual accused of embezzling Rs. 30 lakh from a petrol pump in Shillong.
The accused has been identified as Ram Slok Yadav, a resident of Bihar, who was apprehended in Bidupur, Vaishali district. The incident came to light on December 15, when it was revealed that Yadav and Raghuveer Singh, the petrol pump manager, had fled with a large sum of money.
After a detailed investigation, police teams from both states carried out raids across Bihar, resulting in the eventual arrest of Yadav. Efforts are underway to transfer Yadav to Shillong following the approval of a transit remand. Meanwhile, the search for the second suspect, Raghuveer Singh, is ongoing.
Meanwhile, earlier this month, a man reported to be the former principal of a school in Kamrup Rural, Assam, was arrested for allegedly embezzling funds amounting to Rs 22.65 lakh. The former principal was arrested from Mirza in Kamrup Rural, Assam.
The arrested individual, identified as Dr. Nagen Chandra Das, was the former principal of Amranga Barihat Higher Secondary School in South Kamrup.
As per sources, Dr. Das was arrested from Mirza on Tuesday night and faced charges under Sections 420 (cheating) and 406 (criminal breach of trust) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), as well as Sections 443/24.
