BJP seeks Minister Arjun Munda’s support for tribal projects in Meghalaya

SHILLONG: State BJP party president Ernest Mawrie, MLA Sanbor Shullai and a host of other BJP leaders met Union Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda at his residence in New Delhi recently and sought support from him to speed up sanctioning projects related to tribal tourism. One such project include development of Orchid Polo for creation of more jobs besides revenue generation.

Besides this, the State BJP team also sought the Union Minister’s support to develop Seng Khasi Mawkhar and Raid Laban Cultural Centre to promote Khasi culture.

The State president sought the minister’s intervention to help the newly- inducted BJP MDCs of JHADC get development schemes as the four MDCs have raised their concern to the State BJP that they were not getting the required support from Central schemes. The minister has given assurances that he shall hold discussions on the matters with the Chief Minister.

The minister also gave his assurance stating that he would give special consideration to projects submitted by BJP MLA Sanbor Shullai.

The BJP leaders also discussed various affairs related to the State and sought adequate Central support for various departments funded by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs in Meghalaya for overall development of the State.
