BJP will be voted out of power in 2019: Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi

SHILLONG: Congress MP from Assam Gaurav Gogoi on Tuesday said that the BJP will be voted out of power in the 2019 elections.

Addressing media persons at the Congress Bhavan in Shillong, Gaurav Gogoi said that the 2019 polls will see the people of the country on one side and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president, Amit Shah on the other side. “First issue is that none of the promises made in 2014 have been fulfilled, second issue is young people continue to be unemployed and are frustrated, third issue is our society known for pluralism known all over the world for unity and diversity is being divided and fractured by the BJP,” Gogoi said.

Another issue that the BJP will have to face in the 2019 polls is of how only crony capitalists are benefiting from the government and the Rafales’ deal. According to Gogoi, the Congress has been consistently raising the issue related to the Rafale deal. He pointed out that ever since the Prime Minister visited France on April 10, 2015 since then this government is diverting, deviating, escaping from providing the truth and the facts on the deal. “The Rafale jets purchased has also exposed a pattern of how Prime Minister Narendra Modi only speaks of the poor but ends up helping the rich and the corrupt,” Gogoi said. Gogoi alleged that the Rafale deal was a unilateral decision take by the Prime Minister himself. According to the Assam Congress MP, this deal speaks of betraying the country’s security, of crony capitalism of a private company and of looting public tax payers’ money.
