SHILLONG: The Border Security Force (BSF), Meghalaya frontier, in its efforts to strengthen relations with the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) force, handed over to the counterparts 15 cattle which had strayed into Indian territory while grazing in the bordering area of West Jaintia Hills district.

Troops of 97 battalion of the BSF under Meghalaya frontier had detained these cattle while conducting patrol in the area.

A meeting was conducted between both the forces on the request of BGB to address the plight of cattle owners.

BSF officials said that due to partially unfenced areas, border livestock often cross to other side and such instances are utilized to enhance confidence-building measures and strengthen the relations between both the border guarding forces.
