SHILLONG: Acting on a tipoff, personnel of the 170 Bn of BSF and Meghalaya Police seized 140 bags of dry betel nut worth more than Rs 18 Lakhs on Thursday. The joint operation was carried out in Durbeta Village under Rongra Police Station in the South Garo Hills district of Meghalaya.

Inspector General of BSF Meghalaya Frontier, Kuldeep Saini said, "Operational capabilities of BSF is not affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, and the BSF making its best efforts to curb smuggling activities of criminals on the International Border of Meghalaya.''

He also applauded the Meghalaya Police for their active participation in the joint operation, and said that such operation will continue, stated a release.
