BSF conducts slew of events in Meghalaya to mark 55th Raising Day

GUWAHATI: In continuation of the 55th Raising Day celebration of the BSF, an interaction programme was organized by 55 Bn BSF at the community hall in Gasuapara, South Garo Hills in Meghalaya. Teachers and students from nearby schools attended the programme. The historical importance of Killapara during the 1971 Bangladesh war was explained to the gathering. The participants came to know about the sacrifice of 9 BSF soldiers while maintaining the sanctity of the border.

In addition to this, 75 Bn BSF also organized a documentary show at UP School in Dalu, West Garo Hills. Documentaries on Kargil, the Wagah Retreat ceremony, BSF Raising Day parade and a Garo short movie Great Father were screened to the students.

In another event, a civic action programme was organized by the 26 Bn BSF at LP school Beldova, West Garo Hills district, Meghalaya. Under the programme, 5 sewing machines were distributed to 22 women from village Beldova.

One medical camp was also organised at BOP Gopinathkilla, 26 Bn BSF under the supervision of veteran doctors of BSF. During the camp, health and malaria check-ups were carried out and medicines were distributed to 260 villagers from Gopinathkilla and neighbouring villages.
