SHILLONG: In the backdrop of the COVID-19 epidemic, the BSF in Meghalaya is putting up all efforts to assist the civil population residing along the international border in Meghalaya, stated a press release.
Under the prevailing circumstances, the BSF battalions in Meghalaya are distributing free ration, face masks and sanitizers to the needy people residing in far flung areas. Similar help was extended by way of providing portable water to the villagers through BSF water tankers. The BSF troops are taking necessary precautions while distributing food by wearing gloves, face masks and sanitizers. At the same time, they are also educating the civil population about COVID-19 and its precautions. The BSF battalions are also assisting the civil administration and the NGOs in relief work by ensuring social distancing with the aim to contain the spread of the virus. The PRO BSF said, “It is our duty to help the most vulnerable among the border population and the BSF will continue with its efforts”. He further said, “We are in constant touch with the civil administration and are projecting the demands of border villagers to them.”
