BSF seizes Yaba Tablets at South Garo Hills district

SHILLONG: The BSF troops deployed at Jatrakona, South Garo Hills district, apprehended one Indian drug smuggler along with a three-wheeler vehicle driver with 994 number of Yaba tablets worth more than Rs. 3.5 lakh release said.

The special Ambush party observed a suspected Three Wheeler bearing No. ML-08 F-7148 coming from Baghmara side and going towards Dalu. Ambush party stopped the Auto and apprehended two persons namely Ratan Saha (30) and Sarat Mahanta (29) - both hailing from Chaipani village (Babupara) in West Garo Hills (Meghalaya).

On search, party recovered 994 number of Yaba tablets worth more than Rs 3.5 lac, one mobile phone and Indian currency amounting to R. 14,520 from their possession. On questioning Ratan Saha revealed that the seized tablets were to be handed over to Litan (35) of Palpara (Kilapara) village in South Garo Hills district.

He also revealed that he had collected the consignment from one Muktar Ali at Baghmara. The apprehended persons and the seized items were handed over to the concerned department for due legal action. Yaba Tablet is a highly consumed drug by a youth of Bangladesh, the release stated.
