SHILLONG: National president of NPP (National People's Party) and Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad K Sangma inaugurated the party's office in the national Capital of Delhi in the presence of Deputy CM Meghalaya Prestone Tynsong, Deputy CM Manipur Joykumar Singh and a host of party leaders from different parts of the country, which included Rajya Sabha MP Dr W.R. Kharlukhi and Lok Sabha MP Agatha K Sangma.

The NPP was allotted the party office by Government of India at 75 North Avenue. During inauguration of the party office, wife of (late) P.A. Sangma -- Soradini K Sangma was also present, including former CM of Meghalaya and National Vice President Dr D.D. Lapang.

Speaking at the inaugural function, Conrad K Sangma dedicated the party office to his late father Purno Agitok Sangma.

He informed that the Government of India has allotted the party office to NPP for fulfilling the criteria as a 'National Party' status. He also informed that NPP is one of the eight national political parties in the country.

"No political party from Northeast has ever achieved this level," he said, while terming that the inauguration of the party office in Delhi is a great moment for the people of Northeast.

He also told the gathering that the NPP has been working with a focused approach to reach out to different parts of the country, wherever the vacuum for political leadership was required.

He added that the NPP had started its journey with focus from Northeast but is slowly expanding its reach for the greater cause of the minorities and the marginalised section of the society.

"In the coming days, the NPP will further strengthen itself and will emerge as a major political forces and will ensure victory of the party in the election State of Manipur, which is slated for polls in 2022," he said, while expressing confidence that the next Chief Minister in the State of Manipur will be from NPP.

He also welcomed various leaders from different political parties, who joined the party on Thursday and will contest for the upcoming election in the State of Manipur.

Meghalaya's Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said, "It is a proud moment for Northeast as the National People's Party has its full-fledged office in Delhi." He further urged the party functionaries to work together to keep the flag of NPP high and work to fructify the dreams of its founder (L) P.A. Sangma.

While Deputy Chief Minister Manipur Joykumar Singh said that NPP leadership has been working to ensure that the party becomes a mighty political force across Northeast.

"We made a humble beginning in Manipur. Today, we have become an acceptable party in Manipur and have expanded our wings across the State. In the next election, we will contest from the majority of seats to validate our party's victory," he added.

The National vice president of NPP and former CM of Meghalaya Dr D.D. Lapang said that (late) P.A. Sangma was the pride of Northeast, who demonstrated that nothing is impossible to achieve.

"He began his political career from scratch and held one of the highest positions by being the speaker of the Lok Sabha. His political stewardship will always be remembered and history will record his life in letters of gold", he said.

During the day-long programme in Delhi, National President Conrad K. Sangma held various review meetings with different States to further strengthen the party.
