Shillong, Aug 1: Civil Society Women’s Organisation (CSWO) president Agnes Kharshiing has expressed apprehension that there could be manipulations in the MeECL (Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited) with regards to recruitment to the post of ‘jugali’.

The MeECL had brought out an advertisement in the year 2011 and the physical and personal interview were conducted in the year 2012 in Tura and Shillong.

The result was brought out in 2016.

According to an RTI filed, 772 candidates passed. A RTI was further sought by a candidate to the ‘jugali’ post seeking the score sheet of the physical test (race 800 mts) and personal interview along with the copy of recommendation of the selection committee.

The CSWO president said that the MeECL PIO (Public Information Officer) provided only the combined score sheets which contained the marks of all the participants.

The MeECL PIO also claimed that there were no other documents for this interview except the combined score sheets.

Kharshiing also asked for the score sheets for the physical tests and the personal Interview which were conducted in different centres and on different dates.

“There were eight groups of selection committees for the personal interview so how can they all be using only one combined score sheets,” the CSWO president questioned.

Kharshiing pointed out that the combined score sheet provided through RTI contains the names in order of merit. “If this is the score sheet used for the interview in different places and different dates how is it that the names of candidates in Shillong were entered first while the interview was conducted first in Tura,” she asked.

Kharshiing said that according to what is revealed in the combined score sheet, there are about 800 candidates who did not receive any marks for the physical tests but received marks only for the personal test.

She said that the question many aggrieved candidates are asking is how can they be able to appear in the personal interview without getting any marks in the physical test.

“This indicates they had passed the physical tests but for reasons best known to the authorities their marks were erased,” Kharshiing alleged.
