Classes X and XII (Arts) results declared by the Meghalaya Board of School Education

SHILLONG: A total of 55.72 per cent students passed the Class X Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination which was announced by the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE) on Monday.

Neelam Kumari of, Embee Rosebud Secondary School, Tura, secured the first position with 577 marks out of 600.

The second position went to Darila Akor Kharmawphlang of St Mary's Higher Secondary School, Shillong with 565 marks, while the third position went to Luigi Dalian Pasweth of QC Springside English Secondary School, Jowai with 563 marks.

This year's results have proven that securing top positions is not the monopoly of city schools anymore.

Although six students of St Mary's Higher Secondary School secured positions in the top 20 lists, however there were schools from other parts of the states too which shone.

Dimarkithmu Gayang with 561 marks, student of Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Secondary School, Lamin a village near Dawki in West Jaintia Hills did the school proud by securing the fifth position. Shamim Islam of Bhaitbari Higher Secondary School, Bhaitbari shared the fifth position with Gayang.

Meanwhile, in the Class XII (Arts) results, St Anthony's Higher Secondary School, Shillong stole the limelight with bagging the top four positions in the top ten list.

Five students of the School bagged a position in the top ten list.

Diana Kharbithai secured the top position with 452, followed by Prantik Bhattacharjee with 446 marks, the third position was bagged by Alethea Phoebe Nongrum with 444 marks and the fourth position was secured by Josephine Zodimpui Tungdim with 434 marks.

In the Class XII (Arts) the pass percentage was 76.28 percent. Out of the total of 24371 students who appeared 18589 passed.

1,888 students secured first division, 6490 secured second division and 9327 passed in the third division.

417 students were declared passed in compartmental and another 467 in improvement.
