Shillong: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi on Wednesday and sought her intervention to ensure the release of the share of taxes of the State.
According to the Chief Ministers Office, the State is due to get Rs 71.5 crore per month and the accumulated amount has touched Rs 2,597.35 crore. The meeting between the Finance Minister and the Chief Minister was a brief one. The release of the Central share will come as a big boon to the State which presently is in a deep financial position. The Chief Minister has himself admitted to cash crunch in the State.
