SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Pradesh Mahila Committee (MPMC) staged a protest at the Congress Bhavan in Shillong against the snail’s pace of rescue operation of the trapped mine workers. Their number was barely a dozen.
The women Congress leaders used the platform to attack the NPP-led government in the state. “Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said that miracles do happen, but he has failed to understand the lapse in his government to act swiftly in such a tragic incident,” said MPMC president Joplin Shylla.
Pointing out at the attack on the two social activists on November 8, 2018, the MPMC chief said, “Till date, all the accused have not been arrested. This is a clear lapse of the government. The Chief Minister should step down and hand over the reins to someone who is efficient.”
