CM Conrad Sangma asks youth to take to business ventures

SHILLONG: Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad Kongkal Sangma on Tuesday urged the youth of the State to look for options to start business ventures.

Conrad was speaking as the chief guest at the launch of the solar lamp assembly by Self Help Group (SHG) members at Betasing, South West garo Hills district. The Chief Minister also said that SHGs will be empowered through skill development programme. “It is a proud moment that our own people are assembling the products and the product is tagged as made in Meghalaya,” Conrad said at the launch. He also stated that such programmes will ensure that the people of the State are not job seekers but job providers.

“Our mothers and youth should take advantage of this programme and work to address the issue of unemployment and promote the spirit of entrepreneurship,” Conrad said. Meanwhile, Ampati legislator, Miani D Shira said that skill development is key to India’s growth and also the need of the hour. “I appreciate that the government has initiated such a programme for overall enhancing of the socio-economic status of the people,” Shira said.
