Competitions on traffic awareness in Meghalaya

SHILLONG: The Traffic branch of East Khasi Hills in collaboration with Meghalaya Legal Service Association and Radio Mirchi will be organizing a ‘Traffic Week Awareness Programme’ from the November 19 to the 23. A photography competition (among other activities) also will be conducted. The topic for the competition is ‘Why jam in Shillong?’

The competition is open to any participant above the age of 15 years. Interested candidates can submit their original photographs taken within East Khasi Hills district only in JPEG (.jpg) files saved in pen drives, DVDs or CDs at the office of the SDPO Pynursla, Camp-Police Reserve Shillong before November 17.

The traffic branch will also conduct an essay competition at the Vivekananda Ramakrishna Mission premises at 11.30 am on November 19. The topic of the essay competition will be ‘Good traffic etiquette: A solution for reducing traffic congestion in Shillong’. The competition will be open for students of all the Higher Secondary schools, colleges and members of other organizations. Interested participants can send the names of their representatives to the office of the SDPO Pynursla directly or through any traffic branch in Shillong by November 16.

The participants may contact the SDPO Pynursla at 8794730299 for any queries on both the competitions from 10 am to 5 pm and can refer to the rules and regulations of the competitions at the East Khasi Hills Police website or in any of the traffic branches in Shillong. The winners of both the competitions will be featured in the ‘Radio Mirchi Traffic Jockey’ programme and will be awarded prizes and certificates.
