CoMSO: The Centre feels Meghalaya is inconsequential

SHILLONG: The Confederation of Meghalaya Social Organisations (CoMSO) on Tuesday said that the “Centre’s indifferent attitude” towards Meghalaya with regards to implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) is because they feel the State is inconsequential.

“The Centre is delaying implementation of ILP since the indigenous people of the State are a minority,” CoMSO chairperson Robertjune Kharjahrin said.

“They feel we are irrelevant,” Kharjahrin added.

The CoMSO also said that the MLAs of the State are not aggressive enough to force the Centre to implement ILP.

He also said that the sixty legislators of Meghalaya should go to New Delhi and agitate there so that the demands reach the Centre’s ears.

The CoMSO, a conglomerate of various pressure groups of the State, on Tuesday began their “evening sit-in demonstration” to protest against the Central Government’s inaction towards the resolution passed by Meghalaya Assembly to implement ILP in the State.
