SHILLONG: The Congress on Tuesday held a meeting with all the MLAs, including lone Rajya Sabha MP Wansuk Syiem along with the incumbent MP Vincent Pala.
Informing about the meeting, HM Shiangpliang, Congress spokesperson and MLA from Mawsynram constituency, said, “ We discussed about the poll preparation ahead of us with all the MLAs. We are all geared up for the elections and the outcome of the meeting was good.”
He said that there was a report in the section of media where MLAs have refrained or restrained to escort the party candidate when he (Pala) went to file his nomination. The party candidate has clarified on the matter and said that only four members were allowed to enter the room of the Returning Officer while filing the nomination.
“Vincent Pala wanted that the MLAs should not come and that is why from the party side there was no insistence on the MLAs to escort the party candidate. Nevertheless, we are all here as party MLAs to show solidarity and take up the respective responsibilities to fight the elections and to ensure that Pala emerges as the winner. Having said that we are here with all our colleagues,” he said.
