Shillong: Knowing fully well that the partners of the ruling Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) were hesitant to accept the NPP nominee, Dr. WR Kharlukhi as an accepted candidate for the Rajya Sabha seat, the Congress party has sent feelers to UDP leader, Jemino Mawthoh to be their consensus candidate. Well placed source in the know of things told The Sentinel on Wednesday that they have already reached out to Mawthoh. The source said that calls were being made to Mawthoh by the Congress leadership assuring him of the support of 19 Congress legislator’s, apart from soliciting the support of the other parties. The parties are part of the MDA coalition like the PDf and his PDP.
