SHILLONG, June 23: The Meghalaya Congress Spokesperson Zenith Sangma on Saturday lashed out at the comments made by the National People’s Party (NPP) that there might be another jolt in the Congress in the months to come soon after the former MLA of Ranikor constituency Martin M Danggo resigned from the party yesterday.

It may be noted that on Friday, NPP state President, WR Kharlukhi had stated that the Congress should be ready for yet another big jolt to hit them in one and a half month time.

In this connection, Zenith Sangma said, “We (Congress) are ready to face any possible intimidation and threats and we will make sure that the Congress will win yet again in the by-polls at Ranikor constituency.”

Also earlier, the NPP state president had stated that both NPP and its coalition partner UDP would field candidates that will reduce the congress to garner a minuscule number of votes. When asked, Sangma said, “Ranikor is a Congress bastion and thus congress will win,” said Sangma.

On the resignation of senior Congress member MM Danggo, he said that leaders come and go but the party remains and nobody is above the party.

Sangma further said that the resignation of Danggo has done the party more good than harm.
