Shangri-La Cosplay festival to commence today, Shillong

SHILLONG: The second edition of Shangri-La Cosplay Festival 2018 will be held on August 18 in Shillong, Meghalaya at All Saints Hall.

The contestants at the event will be competing on stage judged by judges from around the country. The winner will choose a partner to represent Meghalaya on the National Stage and if they win, they will go on to represent India in Japan. After the first small edition of the Cosplay festival in January 2017 which was an initial success, it was proposed that a 2nd edition of the Shangri-La festival could be organized again but done on a more spacious venue in order to accommodate more participants and more audience members.

The event will also have other activities like workshops on sculpting, sewing, etc from professionals. The event will also provide a place for various kinds of artistic activities like comic author, Mangyakas, food artists, etc.

The event is held in order to provide youth with a platform to enable them to showcase/display their creative skills, to innovate creativity and inspire positive mindset in society and combat certain societal issues, supporting young individuals in representing the state of Meghalaya in National & International stages, uplifting the unique skills of the youth in this relatively fresh and contemporary field of popular culture.

In an endeavor to celebrate the nations role in being the Global Host of 2018’s World Environment Day the organizers have incorporated the UN theme of ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’ into the Event. The event is in collaboration with ‘Metropolis Asia’ and ‘Empyre Concord’ It is a pre-event that will lead up to the Metropolis event that will be held in the fourth quarter of 2018.
