COVID-19: No positive case reported from four NE states

North East: Four North-eastern states out of total eight have reported zero COVID-19 positive cases so far, at a time when the rest of the country is suffering from the pandemic. As per a Union Government data, no person from Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim and Meghalaya tested positive for the novel coronavirus. However, Assam reported 26 positive cases for the deadly virus, while Manipur reported two, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh reported two cases one in each. It is to be noted that in Assam the majority positive cases have a link with the last religious congregation held at Nizamuddin Dargah, South Delhi which was attended by around two thousand people from 17 states of the country. In Manipur one 23-year-old girl, who recently returned from the UK, and a participant of the Nizamuddin dargah’s religious congregation tested positive. A pastor of Mizoram, who travelled Holland and returned to his home state recently, tested positive for the dreaded virus. The single case of Arunachal Pradesh has, reportedly, link with the Nizamuddin dargah’s congregation. It is thought that due to measures taken by the states governments have checked the spread of the pandemic in the four North-eastern states. Likewise, no novel coronavirus positive case has reported from Lakshadweep so far.
