COVID-19 positive cases now stand at 12 in Meghalaya: Deputy CM Prestone Tynsong

SHILLONG: Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said that COVID-19 positive cases in the State stands at 12, besides informing that the State is in a war footing to fight the deadly disease.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that 933 tests were carried out, of which 821 have been tested negative. The only positive case was of a woman who was a close relative of the deceased doctor. Divulging that all the COVID positive patients are stable and recuperating, Tynsong further said that fresh testing equipment are on the way to Shillong. ÑEIGHRIMS has a testing capacity of 100 patients per day and with the installation of the new equipment, the testing capacity will be 180, informed Tynsong

The minister who spoke about the efforts to combat the virus, however rued that there are sections that do not adhere with protocols like social distancing and wearing of masks.
