CSWO demands justice for woman

Shillong, Aug 30: The CSWO has urged the police to immediately arrest a person for his alleged role in the killing of his daughter and causing grievous injuries to his wife.

According to the CSWO, the accused - Denis Rymbai - intentiolly drove at full speed and at Wapung area, East Jaintia Hills, rammed the truck on the passenger’s side onto another stationery truck which led to the death of the child and injuries to the woman.

“The CSWO demands Denis Rymbai be arrested immediately, and condemns the tardy action of the police in registering the case after 21 days even when a child has died and the mother is in a paralysed state,” CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing said.

The CSWO also demanded that the State should provide immediate compensation to the woman. The victim is the mother of five minor children. According to the FIR filed by the bother of the victim, W Paslein the woman and her child were dragged from the church at Miriam Hill Jowai West Jaintia Hills, by her estranged husband Denis Rymbai July 12.

From there she never returned home and it was only at about 5 pm on the same day that the family members were informed that she was admitted at the Ialong, Civil Hospital.

When they rushed they found that the child has died and their sister was in critical condition. The Doctors also suggested the victim be shifted to Woodland Hospital immediately. She was shifted to Woodland Hospital Shillong and was there for 34 days.

However, the family of the victim filed an FIR against Rymbai only on the July 18, at Jowai Police Station, West Jaintia Hills.
