Shillong, June 20: The Civil Society Women’s Organisation (CSWO) has expressed shock even as it vehemently condemned the murder of a three-week old infant in Mission Compound locality on Tuesday morning.

It may be mentioned that the baby was allegedly murdered by the ex-husband (Clarence Jason Rajee) of the mother.

The CSWO said that according to the relatives of the baby, the former husband had managed to climb up to the terrace of the house and came down to his ex-wife’s room between 1am – 1 30 am on June 19 and attacked her, leaving her bleeding and weak as she had an operation when the child was delivered.

He carried the child upstairs to the terrace and according to a relative who saw the body of the child supposedly even broke the limbs before dumping the little body in a bucket of water atop the terrace. The organization has demanded that strong action should be taken against the culprit and that the trial of the case be expedited. “No bail should also be granted to the person as there is fear for the relatives of the deceased as he has cautioned that he will harm other members of the family and has put the other little siblings in fear,” CSWO president, Agnes Kharshiing said.

The CSWO has urged that the different authorities of the state, including the criminal justice system of the state, should ensure to provide speedy justice to the family of the murdered infant. The CSWO has also sent its condolences to the bereaved family members of the deceased infant and extends all support to ensure justice is delivered speedily.
