SHILLONG: The Government of Meghalaya decided to clamp four-day curfew throughout the Byrnihat-Jorabat area from 9 pm today. The decision was arrived at a review meeting held at the State Secretariat earlier in the day.

Talking to newspersons after the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Preston Tynsong said that the decision was arrived at in view of the spike in COVID-19 cases in Guwahati. According to Tynsong, the periphery of those areas will have at least 48 hours of curfew covering all entry and exit areas between Kamrup (M) district of Assam and Ri-Bhoi district of Meghalaya.

"We're safe till today, but we should not be complacent," said the Deputy Chief Minister even as he pointed out at the number of returnees and those under quarantine showing no signs of positive results.
