CWC Will Resolve Issues: PDF chief Pynshngain N Syiem

A REPORTER

SHILLONG: The chairman of the Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) Pynshngain N Syiem after a long hiatus has finally broken his silence on Thursday to clear his stand on the squabbles within the party.

The Chairman has pointed out that all the misunderstanding and squabbles within the party will be taken up by the Central Working Committee (CWC) of PDF with the sole objective to resolve all the problems.

It may be mentioned that three MDCs of the PDF who had extended their support to the Executive Committee (EC) of KHADC CEM HS Shylla were suspended because of their action. However now five MDCs of the PDF have extended their support to the same EC but no action has been taken against them by the party even as two other PDF MDCs which include the Chairman PN Syiem and women’s wing president Grace Mary Kharpuri are not in the same fold as the five MDCs.

“This happens with all political parties as there can be misunderstanding within the party but we will try to resolve all the problems and this matter will be taken up by the CWC of PDF,” Syiem told media persons at his residents in Shillong.

On the matter concerning the decision of the five MDCs to extend their support to KHDA, he said, “They made their own decision to support the EC of HS Shylla because in the letter of support they have clearly mentioned ‘We the MDCs’ which means it’s not a decision taken by the PP of the party.”

He informed that a sub-committee was also constituted and all the four MLAs of the party are members of the committee which is tasked to come up with suggestions and to find a solution to remove the problems plaguing the party.

“I expect that the four MLAs of the party will submit their suggestions to solve the current problems and misunderstanding within the party very soon,” he said.

When asked on the decision of the five MDCs of the party to support KHDA in the district council and the demand from the three MDCs who were suspended by the PDF for a similar move, he said, “Right now I cannot make any comment on this matter but it will be taken up by the CWC of the party.”

It may be noted that the three MDCs had also demanded that the PDF should also take action against the five MDCs who had extended support to HS Shylla as was done to them earlier.

Stating that the party has taken up many issues including that of the traditional heads MUDA, and mineral issues among others, he said, “However as a leader of the party I’m concerned that we have not been able to achieve most of these issues of the party.”

When asked if he was sidelined by the party after losing the election, he said, “There is no question of me being sidelined.”

Syiem also said that he has no regrets for contesting the by-elections from Ranikor constituency.

When asked, he said, “We are yet to have discussions on the MDC election scheduled for next year as the main priority right now is to resolve the problems of the party.”
