Digital week make new strides in Meghalaya

SHILLONG, July 4: As part of a weeklong observation of the Digital India Week in Meghalaya, the NIIT, APTECH and Symantec in association with the Meghalaya government, organized the Digital India Awareness Programme of State Government sponsored courses at All Saints’ Cathedral Hall in Shillong, on Saturday

Meghalaya Information Technology Minister, AL Hek graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The awareness programme was organized in order to further popularize the various courses that are being offered through various training partners so that maximum students and youth may avail the benefits and get placements in IT industry. It may be noted that the Rainbow CSCs are playing an important role in providing basic and important services till Blocks and village levels in Meghalaya. The public utility service like collection of electricity bill payment at the CSCs has also been a great relief for citizens. “Technology has come a long way in easing out the difficulties that we face in our day to day lives”, said Hek while speaking at the awareness programme. He added that the Common Service Centres (CSCs) has been helping the people especially in the rural areas in accessing the various services. He also said that the State government will be organizing a road show where major players from the Information Technology industry will be participating to create awareness about the various careers and job prospects that are available.
