SHILLONG: In what can be termed as good for the schools in the north-eastern States waiting for years to introduce NCC (National Cadet Corps), the Central government has allotted nearly 5000 Junior Division/Wing vacancies in NCC in the fully self-financing scheme.

This move comes following long-pending demand of numerous schools who could not introduce NCC due to limited vacancies available in the Corps. This development will benefit the students community in a big way wherein they can be a part of nation building and can get 'A' certificate which will not only help them to get admission in professional colleges and accrue benefit in getting jobs. The NCC cadets will not only get basic military training but also get the oppoertunity to attend camps, treks, mountaineering courses, leadership-development capsules at the national level besides participating in various social service and community development activities. Additional Director General NCC, North Eastern Region, Major General AnantaBhuyan, has stated in a press release that the schools which are interested in getting out of turn allotment in the full self-financing schemes can approach their nearest NCC offices.
