SHILLONG: The National People's Party (NPP) State president Dr W.R. Kharlukhi, who is also an MP in Rajya Sabha, was re-elected unopposed as leader of the party. This was informed by NPP spokesman and CEA (Central Election Authority) member secretary, Marcuise N Marak on Saturday.

"As no other nomination was submitted for the post of the State president, the CEA of the party is pleased to announce Dr W.R. Kharlukhi as the president of the party in the State of Meghalaya," he said.

Marak also informed that the election scheduled to be held on March 3 stands cancelled as it is no longer required. "We wish him the best in his efforts to strengthen and promote the good work of the party in the state of Meghalaya," he added.
