SHILLONG: The East Khasi hills district administration has banned visitors to Golf Links in Shillong from this weekend to prevent the surge in cases of COVID-19.

Golf Links is a popular destination spot for locals and tourists; and since the government eased down the restrictions, people -- without any adherance to the SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) -- have been thronging the area. The order has prohibited gathering of people and entry of any visitors within the premises of Golf Links every Sunday.

Deputy Commissioner Isawana Laloo stated, "The order is issued in view of the rapid rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in East Khasi Hills district..''
