East Khasi Hills Restrictions till June 8: What you should know

East Khasi Hills has chalked out a list of restrictions that shall continue till Phase-I of the Centre's "Unlock" strategy unfolds

Guwahati: In keeping with the national policy of placing restrictions to mitigate the spread of the Covid-19, the district administration of East Khasi Hills district in Meghalaya has issued a set of rules and regulations which will be applicable till June 8.

Till June 8, inter-district and inter-state movement shall be restricted, and "any assembly whatsoever" shall not be allowed.

Every individual must mandatorily maintain social distancing of at least 6 feet, wear masks, maintain respiratory etiquette, and to follow the Government prescribed rules.

Additionally, major markets and unregulated shopping complexes in all commercial locations shall be

Saloons, spas, and other rejuvenation centers shall also remain closed. The closure will extend to cinema halls, gymnasiums, swimming pools, entertainment parks, theatres, bars, auditoriums, and other recreational places shall also remain closed.

Contact sports and spectators in sports grounds and stadia shall also be banned.

At the same time, hotels and hospitality services other than those used as quarantine facilities will also not be allowed to operate.

Meanwhile, the opening of education institutions, training centers, and coaching classes shall also not be allowed.

Religious places of worship and congregations will also not be allowed and no gatherings will be allowed, be it for social, political, entertainment, academic, cultural, or religious reasons.

Movement for persons above 65, people with co-morbidities, pregnant women, and children below 10 will only be allowed for essential activities.

Meanwhile, extra prohibitions will be in place only in the Shillong Urban Agglomeration including areas falling under the Umshyrpi bridge up to 7th Mile Upper Shillong on Mylliem C&RD Block, all areas falling under census town of Lawlai C&RD block and all the areas falling under the census town of Mawpat C&RD.

In these areas, the operation of shops dealing in non-essential items will not be allowed. Additionally, the opening of restaurants, cafes, food outlets, dairy stalls, tea, and food stalls, will not be allowed. However, home deliveries and takeaways will be allowed.

The bringing of laborers from other districts for construction purposes shall not be allowed.

At the same time, the "operation of public and private transport barring the public transportation arranged by the Government of Meghalaya in the Transport Department" will also not be allowed.

Vehicle passes for this period shall have to be obtained via online application from the eastkhasihillsgov.in website.

"Public vehicles and private vehicles moving with a pass in civil sub-divisions of Sohra/Pyrnursla and C&RD blocks and authorized public vehicles of Transport Department and private vehicles moving with a pass in Shilling Urban Agglomeration will move with only two persons and driver for four-wheelers and one pillion rider restricted only to female/child below the age of 12 years with driver for two wheelers", read the order.
