Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) petitions DC on killing of aquatic life

SHILLONG: Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP), Kyrshai area unit in West Khasi Hills, has petitioned the Deputy Commissioner over the unregulated killing of aquatic life in the Khri and Rambrai rivers and other tributaries of the rivers.

According to the Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People Kyrshai area unit, people use various methods like blasting, throwing medicines among other means to kill the aquatic lives in the two rivers. The FKJGP unit has urged the district authorities to finds out ways and means and use provisions of law so that people can desist to use such methods to kill aquatic life.

"Such a step will be another way of preserving the environment," the FKJGP Kyrshai area unit said.
