SHILLONG: The Director of Information and Public Relations, Meghalaya on Thursday filed an FIR to the officer in-charge, Cyber Crime Police Station, Meghalaya against a Facebook page by the name "Lakewoods Eco Camp" for uploading two fake news regarding containment zones in Meghalaya. These two posts state that "one small locality in Nongmynsong is a containment zone... transparency please…" and "two containment zones already in Umsamlem and Nongmynsong."
Meanwhile, another FIR was also filed by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Meghalaya against some unknown persons for propagating fake news through WhatsApp and other social media platforms. These fake news state that "some officials from the Secretariat and NIC have been tested positive for COVID-19." And "in Nongmynsong 4 people have tested positive including one who works in a wine store at Demseiniong petrol pump.
