Garoland is a constitutional right: Champion R Sangma

Shillong: The A’chik Holistic Awakening Movement (AHAM) headed by the former Chairman of the obliterated Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) Chairman, Champion R Sangma has made its political narratives clear by asserting that the demand for Garoland is a constitutional right.

During a brief interaction a group of reporters in Shillong on Wednesday, Champion R Sangma alluded to politics in Garo Hills. He said, “Purno A Sangma won the elections on this issue. Unfortunately he died but it is important that his son who is now the Chief Minister takes the issue forward”.

“If He (Conrad Sangma) cannot fulfill his father’s wishes then he is not to be called his son”, stated the Champion R Sangma, even as he added that the demand for Garoland is the Garos birth right and constitutional rights. He went on saying there is a reality to achieve the same with all the political and ground realities that are in place.
