Shillong, March 31: In view of the warning issued by the tiol Forecasting Centre of India, Meteorological Department of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in the three days from March 31 to April 2 in South West Garo Hills district, the district administration has asked the citizens of the district to remain alert on these days. The Deputy Commissioner has also convened a meeting with the district officials today for taking appropriate measures to prepare and respond effectively during any eventuality. All district officials have been asked to remain in station during these days and departments concerned asked take necessary steps for disaster mitigation. The people have been asked to move themselves and their belongings and rations to safety. They have also been told to avoid venturing near the streams, rivers and water bodies and not to allow their children play in or near such water bodies during these days.
