Hemp Plant Destroyed in Kuligoan Village, Meghalaya

Shillong: A joint opération carried by the South West Garo Hills district official along with the Border Security Force (BSF) led to the destruction of approximately 2500-2600 plants of hemp planted in patches in Kuligoan village that is located just 5 K.M of the Indo- Bangladesh border. The destruction of illegally cultivated hemp was carried out Under the Supervision of B D Sangma, Additonal Magistrate South West Garo Hills.

Further, the Addl. Magistrate intimated that the date for the destruction of remaining illegally cultivated hemp in 40-45 patches will be conveyed after discussion with Deputy Commissioner, informed the BSF official. All these cultivated loops of hemp are meant for smuggling purpose and exposed the nexus between Ganja Syndicates and villagers of the above village.
