SHILLONG: Former MLA Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit has resigned from the primary membership of the Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) along with his supporters on Tuesday. It may be mentioned that last year during the Meghalaya Assembly polls, Basaiawmoit lost to independent candidate Lambor Malgniang from the Nongkrem constituency by a margin of 76 votes. Soon after his defeat, he resigned from the post of party president. The HSPDP won only two seats in the Assembly polls held in 2018. After his defeat, Basaiawmoit on many occasions had hinted that he may not take part in active politics in the future.
