SHILLONG: The Hynñiewtrep Integrated Territorial Organization (HITO) has issued a complaint to the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills, Isawanda Laloo against the unannounced visit of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) delegation amidst pandemic to the State.

"We seek urgent clarification from your office with regards to the sudden visit of a delegation of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee to convene a public meeting at Them Metor in Them Iew Mawlong on the evening of October 13, 2021. The delegation was led by DSGMC president Sardar Manjinder Sing Sirsa," HITO president Donbok Dkhar said on Monday.

He said that though pictures appearing in the media depict few persons but it was an established fact that a public meeting was held on that day and attended by an unaccounted number of people, well beyond the prevailing COVID-19 SOPs enforced by the district administration.

"HITO wishes to know whether your office was aware of the sudden and unannounced visit of such a high-profile delegation and its purpose and whether permission for this meeting was granted? What action will be taken against those found guilty of violating any prescribed law?" he said.
