HNLC Appoints Youth Leader Sadon K Blah as Peace Parley Representative

SHILLONG : The proscribed Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) has appointed Sadon K Blah, president of the Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF), a pressure group of the State, as their representative for peace talks.

"He shall communicate with the Government-appointed interlocutors Peter S Dkhar (Retd IAS) and AK Mishra, Advisor MHA Northeast (Retd IPS) to pursue the peace talks.

"This is again a positive step towards achieving peace," HNLC general secretary-cum-publicity secretary Sainkupar Nongtraw said.

Nongtraw said, "We are hopeful that our representative and the interlocutors shall work hand in hand to bring forth peace and stability, and, they would also play a crucial role in their respective capacities."

The HNLC also thanked the KJCLF (Khasi Jaintia Church Leaders Forum) for coming forward and expressing their willingness to become a part of the peace process.

Nongtraw said that the HNLC also hopes that this step would surely create a conducive atmosphere to take things forward to the negotiating table in a better perspective.

On February 9, the HNLC had sent its official communication to the State Government reiterating its readiness for peace dialogue without any preconditions.
