Holiday Hangover Still Present in Meghalaya State Government Employees

Shillong: The 11 days of holidays and its hangover effects is visible in most the state government establishments on the first working day of the year. Not about generalizing the state attendance of the government employees, But the Sentinel visited on multiple offices Wednesday obvious showed an account that the turn up was not up the usual strength.

Meghalaya state government employees had the privilege of enjoying the Christmas and New Year holiday from the 24th of Last Month .Preceding those days was a Saturday and Sunday and altogether the stretch of the holidays is 11 days.

Only three ministers, Hamlet Dohling, Banteidor Lyngdoh, and Alexander Hek attended offices on the first working day of the year. There was neither the Chief Minister nor Deputy Chief Minister in attendance. The corridors of the chambers of the political appointees were empty and this could be substantiated from the official register of the main Secretariat.

To further check on the entry of the employees into the state secretariat who has to used the bio matrix card, persons on duty told this correspondent on condition anonymity that the entry and exit is really low through the gates that they are manning. This is the report till 4.p.m in the evening.

The Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma had on numerous occasions underscored on the importance of work culture. However, the absence of nine cabinet ministers, parliamentary secretaries, and political advisers to the government on Wednesday gave a glimpse on how the new dispensation has managed to lead from the front in invoking on the employees.
