SHILLONG: The Hynniewtrep Integrated Territorial Organization (HITO) Central Body today apprised the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma against NEIGRIMS hospital for allegedly asking COVID-19 patients to deposit Rs. 10,000 at the time of admission in the hospital.

In a letter to the CM, the organisation said that the Order of the issued by the Dy Director (Admn) NEIGRIMS dated 19 May 2021 indicating that few selected pharmacy representatives should be presented at the reception to collect all data and related information of all the COVID-19 patients admitted to NEIGRIMS.

In the order it was also indicated in the order that AAO (Outsource) MHIS is required to create a separate account for COVID-19 patients admitted for receiving the deposit, etc.

''It was a shock to know from the NEIGRIMS authority that each COVID-19 patients have to deposit an amount of Rs10, 000 at the time of admission into the hospital,'' president of HITO Wanbun N Dkhar said.

He said it was also noted that procedure and conduct of administration particularly relating to MHIS by some hospital are in the city are frustrated in nature due to their negligence and misleading the patient at some point of time.

''We urge you to take the necessary steps to bring about and deliberate the best service to the people of the state as a whole, especially during these pandemic periods,'' he said.
