Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF) Apprises KHADC on Land Documents Anomalies

SHILLONG: The Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF) Northern Region on Tuesday apprised the Khasi Hills Autonomous District (KHADC) CEM HS Shylla on the rampant distribution of land documents on the same land by the Syiem of Raid Narlein at Ri-Bhoi district.

“At present, there are squabbles between two or three party concerning the same plot of land as the Syiem of Raid Narkein had issued land documents to more than one person for the same plot of land,” general secretary of HNYF E. Nongrum said.

He pointed out that because of this action by the Syiem of Raid Narkein there had been a number of scuffles and misunderstanding between the people who have been issued the land documents.

The HNYF also urged the KHADC CEM to intervene in the matter at the earliest as in the past they have already met with the Syiem Raid and the Syiem of Hima Mylliem, however, was unable to solve the problems encountered by the landowners on the issue that there should only be one owner of the land.

He said the KHADC Chief should take up the matter seriously so that the problem will be resolved at the earliest. In this connection, he informed that after meeting with the KHADC CEM, he had assured them that the matter will be examined by the Executive Committee of the council.
