India's First Ever Online Gaming Centre To Be Set Up In Shillong
SHILLONG: Union Minister, Rajeev Chandrashekhar on Friday, informed about the establishment of Centre Of Excellence in Shillong. The brand new centre of excellence will be constructed by March 2023.
The government of India has decided to build the first ever online gaming centre in Northeast India. Department of Electronics and Information Technology has put forward the draft amendments to the IT Rules of 2021, which is based on the online gaming for public review.
The Centre of Excellence will motivate the new generation business entrepreneurs and startups from the entire northeast region to form the future generation online gaming ecosystem, this has been stated by Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
The minister mentioned this while his visit in Shillong, Meghalaya. PM Narendra Modi expects that the new wave of establishments and entrepreneurship should definitely evolve from Shillong, Kohima and other parts of Northeast, added the minister.
Rajeev Chandrashekhar further emphasised on the importance of acquiring skill based knowledge, especially after the pandemic. He made this statement while his visit in the Software Technology Park in Shillong.
A formal set up will be constructed in the state of Shillong to provide learning on digital skills, he added. The National Institute of Electronics and IT (NIELIT) will arrive in the state for the same. The minister informed that the establishment will be approximately a campus of 10 acre that will impart skilfull digital training to the young generation of all northeast states.
He also mentioned about the central government's plan to relaunch the Skill India with a goal to teach approximately 50,000 youths in Meghalaya. The project will be developed under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY).
